Sending the first kiddo off to school

One down, one to go. ;)

Miles' first day of school (Pre-Kindergarten) was on August 6th. Unfortunately I had stupid jury duty that morning and was not able to go when it was time to drop him off and pick him up. Max took pictures and told me all there was to tell. But still, I was bummed to miss it. He just LOVES being a "big boy" and we've been talking up his "big school" all summer long. (he was in a small montessori preschool before and is now enrolled in public preschool at one of the district's elementary schools) He was thrilled and even got up early that morning! The pictures here are of his first day. He is growing TOO FAST!

There has been a slight change in plans though and hopefully this will make our lives less complicated. You see, Miles got into the public preschool by a lottery system and he didn't get picked for our "first pick" but we were happy nonetheless because it is significantly cheaper than private preschools in the area. SO he got into Ridgeview Elementary for Monday and Wednesday mornings. I heard about a NEW preschool opening up at the elementary school across the street (the one that we THOUGHT our kids would be zoned for when we bought the house, but there happens to be some weird zoning in our area and our "home school" is Springs Ranch Elem. where Maxx went to kindergarten at) this school is called Remington. So I thought it was a long shot but I called the program office up and asked if we could transfer just for convenience reasons and today I finally got the call back and he is in! He'll go Tuesday and Thursday mornings instead, and a little later, but we won't be cutting it so close or driving so far away... actually we can walk! So we are set and he should have no issues getting into RMCA next year. Woo hoo!

When I told him about it he seemed he could care less. He'd only gone to the other school three days. But he did have a favorite teacher already, Miss Leah. So I guess we'll see how Thursday goes!

Maxx starts school on Monday... so more to come.

Here is Miles!
